High Ridge woman slumped at wheel of stolen vehicle arrested

Sep 13, 2023

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office got a report about a 34-year-old High Ridge woman slumped at the wheel of a vehicle parked outside McDonald’s, 2701 Ridge Point Drive, in High Ridge, and ended up arresting her for two felonies. The woman already was wanted on warrants, and the vehicle she was in – a 2010 Cadillac – had been reported stolen in Park Hills, the report said.

On July 31, the Sheriff’s Office got a call about the woman in the vehicle, and when deputies arrived, she reportedly refused medical treatment and would not identify herself. She allegedly locked herself inside the vehicle and refused to get out, according to the report.

Deputies eventually identified the woman and determined she was wanted on warrants and the vehicle was stolen. They used spike strips to barricade the vehicle in the spot on the McDonald’s parking lot, got two of the vehicle doors open and forcibly removed the woman as she allegedly resisted, wedging her feet against the door jamb and holding onto the steering wheel, the report said.

However, the deputies got her out, with no one injured, and took her into custody, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office will seek felony tampering and resisting arrest charges against her. As of Aug. 4, though, no charges had been filed, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
